why is windows 7 better than Linux mint 7?

Could cost be a factor?
How about the fact that Linux isn’t compatible with my printer?
IMHO, I say yes to both. Here is why:
Open source is free and so is the Linux OS but, the OS is complicated to learn and the forums are not that helpful unless you know the lingo. I have found a CD which promises to teach you Linux, the cost $299.00 verses $199.00 For Windows 7 which works out of the box. I am not getting any younger and don’t have years to learn Linux, so thanks but no thanks and don’t even talk to me about a duel boot, unless you think I actually want several miniature partitions with barely enough room to do squat on. Finally there is the issue of the printer Kodak easyshare 5100 not compatible. So, I now have a choice to make: either buy a compatible (if I can find one) printer around the same cost of Win 7, or buy Win 7. Yes, I do like the idea of open source and for the most part Linux works, I simply don’t have the time or money to learn it.
Honestly speaking the word Windows, leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and I didn’t come on here to ramble and complain. Nor do I want to dump Linux, my real question is does anyone in this forum know of a place where I can get Linux training for free or at least for way less that two bills?
I have two 1 terabyte internal drives.
