In only a few weeks, 2010 will be half over, and it’s already clear that one widely believed in technology prediction for the year has come true: the success of Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system. For the Redmond software giant, Windows 7 has been a comeback story, following oceans of bad reviews and bad PR surrounding Windows Vista. We live in an Apple-dominated mobile application development environment, but it doesn’t need to be that way. Carriers can stay relevant by making application enablement more open and agile. Network operators have been offering app stores for a lot longer than Apple, but none of their “walled gardens” have been nearly as successful as Apple’s in such a short period of time
