Look at those “Professionals” or “Authorities” and their arrogance… as they always speak like Rulers … “because We are the educated people in high society, not like you students or hobbyists, and we know more than you”… “so if you don’t like it, no freedom?? Go and F*&^ yourself, we just keep making your money”

Linux has become the unstoppable force, it’s development driven by the infinite power of community.

@Keruaran That may be true, that he used GNU, but had there not been such, he would have used something else and it would work all the same. Linux is inevitable. Linux is unstoppable. Microsoft tried to kill the Linux, but they failed, and were thrown to the ground. Apple tried to become the Linux, but they failed, and were thrown to the ground. BSD tried to outwit the Linux, but they failed, and were thrown to the ground. Commercial Unix systems tried to outclass the Linux, but they cost money

Would be nice if someone gave you Linux so drivers are mostly a thing of the past huh.

  6. brickvickie says:

I enjoyed that. Now back to day 3 of trying to get my printer/scanner drivers to work.

    What a commercial!

That was brilliant :) Fingers crossed, it will be proven correct too!

  11. satyadevrocks says:

    Linux rules!!!

  12. jeroeniskoning says:

    Go Linux !

  13. Keruaran says:

Linus used GNU tools to code Linux. Without RMS there would be no Linux as we know it.

  14. Keruaran says:

One of the best commercials ever made.

  15. spydon says:

Gnu is just a little part of the system known as “linux”, you could also name it GNU/X11/Apache/TeX/Perl/Python/Linux if you would want to. That is why we just simply call it Linux.

  16. devo85x says:

this has to be the best made commercial I have ever seen! to bad they dont show it on TV anymore…

  17. gneric187 says:

It was on linux first. Works better with linux and development for it is more active for linux.

  18. Danquebec01 says:

    I love this comercial! :’)

  19. blargd says:

I’m saying that the names refer to different ways of making distros these days, yes GNU is the system and Linux is the Kernel however if you get GNU it will use entirely open source software for everything, whereas Linux will use propriatory software out of the box, this is the major distinction between the GNU named OS and the OS’s going under the Linux flag.

  20. infinity217 says:

GNU is the system linux is it’s kernel1 what are you talking about, every known linux distro is in fact GNU/linux.
richard stallman said something like : “GNU is a system Linux on of its kernels” talking about gnu/herd

  21. Sh4ring4n300 says:

At least it’s better than microsoft’s ISS.

  22. dsavix4 says:

    Certainly not as well though.

  23. darthirakli says:

    This is really brilliant commercial!

  24. Sh4ring4n300 says:

Hey, Apache doesn’t just run on linux/ unix, it also runs on windows…

  25. redhelix2006 says:

Most of the modernized world runs on Linux or Unix. Virtualizing your Windows servers via ESX? ESX is a Red Hat system. The internet? Most of it is hosted on Apache.

The desktop market is a large hurdle to jump for OSS, but it’s eventually going to happen.
