    @69pimpstick Oh Heck yeah! uninstall Vista. But I suggest dual booting your computer with Windows 7 AND Linux mint. Cause Vista sucks but Windows 7 is the bomb!

  2. OSGUIShow says:

    @jharris216 so is this OS that is screwde an upgrade from an older version? that is common
    do a clean install to fix it
    report the bugs to canonial if its like this on clean or live cd

  3. jharris216 says:

    @OSGUIShow what does that mean? I’ve used ubuntu for 2 years. But something always gets broken in every release. I dont understand. Is it because of something with nautilus or maybe removing hal or what? It boots fine but wont recognize anything!

  4. OSGUIShow says:

    @jharris216 tghats very strange and yes unheard of

    sounds like your OS is screwed, which often happens when new users try to treat linux as if its windows

  5. jharris216 says:

    can anyone tell why ubuntu and linux mint 9 CANNOT read my usb drive, my cd drive or my home partition? It seems to be a nautilus issue (thunar and dolphin work) yet not one reviewer, not one forum, not one poster on here seems to have this issue. I have a nc6000 compaq and I just want one linux that FINALLY works 100% on a BASIC level.

  6. 69pimpstick says:

    @MicroHelper oh ok mate i just had only wanted mint 9 as my os and not windows… so i thot i shud install completely lol and remove vista

  7. MicroHelper says:

    @69pimpstick NOoooo. Don’t install it. you shouldn’t inputed the disk in Windows 7 and choose “Install Inside Windows” . Do you still have Windows 7? If not, YoU removed it! And now you only have Linux mint! D:

  8. 69pimpstick says:

    im confused.. i want to install mint 9 and my computer is 32 bit but i dont see any specific downloads. ubuntu has a download that says 32 bit in it but mint doesnt. when i burned the cd and tried to install i wouldnt work normally so i had to install from cd then reboot… so i chose the mint 9 OS when i was prompted to at the startup menu and got to the first mint loading screen but then at the second stage it wouldnt load past the initramfs part… wtf fml i dont wanna but win 7. help?

  9. Ubuntufrog says:

    The final release of Mint 9 is now available, 21+ or more bugs have been fixed since the RC release. :)

  10. OSGUIShow says:

    @ortafunk i dunno because i do not have them

    but i did do a vide on how my TV DVB USB turner works in ubuntu / linux mint

    and if you are using USB cable from modem to PC then switch to Ethernet

    USB for Internet is the worst way to connect – Ethernet is the only good way

    if the modem has no Ethernet plug, go buy a new one thet do not cost much money

  11. ortafunk says:

    Will Linux Mint 9 Isadora be able to operate Windstream DSL modem and TV Wonder 600 USB

  12. atum9ankh says:

    @OSGUIShow Thanx. I downloaded Mint 9 to a cd and ran the program but it will only work for a few minutes then it freezes. whats going on?

  13. OSGUIShow says:

    @atum9ankh Linux Mint 9 – always recommend Mint to new users
    Mint saves hours of extra setup that is required in Ubuntu

  14. atum9ankh says:

    I’m new to Linux and would like to know which would be a better fit Mint9 or Ubuntu. I’m not a computer novice but I’m no expert either.

    Please help?

  15. OSGUIShow says:

  16. Boombox198719 says:

  17. OSGUIShow says:

    @HalomasterObi1177
    yep very true

  18. HalomasterObi1177 says:

    Linux mint is just like its name, always refreshing :)

  19. OSGUIShow says:

    @revsoldest1 yay hehe

  20. OSGUIShow says:

    @ve3tru lol ok
    yep
    true
    and i seen some crazy stupid advise / feedback from mint forums ppl

  21. ve3tru says:

    I think it looks too much like windblows so I don’t like it. some apps wont work on it only ubuntu and the community is smaller so there not as much help out there.
    Ubuntu 10.04 has lots of bugs, mint is based on it. They should wait until they get them sorted out.
    Its great for the newbie its layout is closest to winblows, and it installs most of the stuff you need upfront unlike Ubuntu. Best distro for the new linux user.

  22. revsoldest1 says:

    my fav linux is linux mint

  23. OSGUIShow says:

    @iguanae some PPA’s do not work in Mint because they have a script or something to make them only work in Ubuntu and if Ubuntu OS name has been changed they do not work… Play Deb for example half the games will not work in Mint

  24. OSGUIShow says:

    @melroy89 hehe

  25. iguanae says:

    @OSGUIShow why wouldn’t you recommend this for long-term users?
