Linux can be difficult to learn at first, but the more you use it and get comfortable with it the easier it will become. If you pick up a distribution such as ubuntu it will be much easier to learn as ubuntu is incredibly close to windows in terms of how things are laid out. Also ubuntu has a great set of forums and an excellent support wiki.

My recommendation would also to try ubuntu. The iso can be downloaded from ubuntu.com, and burned on a cd. You can then either reboot your computer, and boot the cd instead of the hard drive OR insert the cd while windows is running. It has an auto run feature that will run the wubi installer to try it out. Ubuntu can “easily” be deleted from the hard drive using this installation method. NOTE: ubuntu is not a program though, you dont actually run it from windows. You choose to boot either windows or ubuntu when you power up. Google for ubuntu mailing lists and join for help if you need it.
